Lady Zaynab was the third child of Imām ‘Alī and Lady Fāṭimah (a). She was born in the 5th or 6th year after Hijrah, and passed away on the 15th of Rajab, 62 AH, one year after the tragic events of ‘Āshūrā, when she was accompanying her husband ‘Abdullah b. J‘afar on a journey to Shām.
Lady Zaynab played a crucial role in conveying the message of Imām al-Ḥusayn (a). Had it not been for Zaynab, the legacy of Karbala would not be what it is today. She was the means by which Allah preserved the life of Imam as-Sajjād (a). And she was a crucial figure in allowing people to understand the message of Imam al-Ḥusayn (a).
